There's no question that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has high hopes of becoming Speaker of the House next year. But he knows he's got to overcome some internal resistance from the more conservative members of the House. This is sure one way to do it... Yesterday morning, he led a party of Republican members of the House for a visit to our southern border near El Paso. And what he encountered was just proof of what he already suspected. So, he held a press conference where he warned Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas that it was time to resign... or else. Or else what? "If Secretary Mayorkas does not resign, House Republicans will investigate every order, every action, and every failure will determine whether we can begin impeachment inquiry," he continued. "If secretary Mayorkas was in charge of any company, he would have been fired by now for the failures of what he has caused." Now, I'm not a huge McCarthy fan, but I like Mayorkas a whole lot less. And if McCarthy can pull this off, it would certainly be a step in the right direction. What else did he have to say? (read more)

The Supreme Court refused a request by former President Donald Trump's attorneys to stop an order requiring the IRS to give over his tax records to a House committee probing his business dealings. The order published on Tuesday contained no dissents. Trump had been opposing the proposal made in 2019 by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal, a Democrat from Massachusetts. On October 31, Trump filed an emergency plea with the Supreme Court to overturn a lower court's order to reveal the records. (read more)

"Gear up for a recession in 2023." That's the message the media seems intent on conveying, and understandably so. Numerous prominent financial figures have been predicting a recession for the new year for months on end. These experts are sure that the Federal Reserve's aggressive rate increases would result in a sharp decrease in consumer spending, triggering a generalized economic slump and a wave of unemployment. The housing market may be significantly impacted if a recession occurs. Because the economy is so unstable, buyers may decide not to enter the market out of fear of losing their employment or because they don't want to shoulder the costs of homeownership. Additionally, mortgage interest rates are now high and are anticipated to remain so through 2023. Thus, it alone could drive away more purchasers from the market. As a result, it is simple to understand why some homeowners and prospective sellers are concerned about a fall in the housing market in the coming year. But are those worries justified? (read more) |

Creepy video footage from a hospital is going viral, and people are convinced it is proof that ghosts exist. In the footage, a security guard is seen sitting at a desk at the front entrance of a hospital. The doors open and he suddenly jumps up to greet someone and screen them for entry into the facility. But the problem is that no one else can be seen on the video footage. While the security guard is clearly talking with someone else, that someone can not be seen. The video shows the security guard filling out paperwork and asking someone to stand in a certain area. He then offers them a wheelchair, but when they decline, he instructs them on where to wait. Hours later, he noticed the patient was missing. So he asked staff members if they had seen her and shared the name of the patient he received when they registered at the front desk with him. When the medical staff heard the name, they were shocked for this chilling reason. (read more) |
