Never lose sleep about what you might have missed... | | | When you're driving down the road, this is the last vehicle you want to find yourself behind. But that's what happened earlier this week in Washington state. Okanogan Trooper Cunningham pulled over a driver hauling a car that was partially hanging out the back of the truck on Highway 97, north of Okanogan, Washington. They weren't speeding, but they didn't have to be for a citation. So, how big was the ticket, and do you think the ticket should have been even higher based on what else the trooper learned? Experts say it could happen as soon as this summer. "I wouldn't be surprised to see diesel being rationed on the East Coast this summer," John Catsimatidis, the CEO of United Refining Co., told Bloomberg on Wednesday. "Right now inventories are low and we may see a shortage in coming months." While diesel inventories are low everywhere in the nation, things are particularly bad on the east coast. Inventories have shrunk to about 21.3 million barrels of diesel. And while that may sound like a lot, that's only enough fuel to last about two weeks. Stockpiles haven't been this low since data was first recorded back in 1990. Diesel prices have literally never been higher. National averages broke $5.56 a gallon yesterday. On Monday, Trump made the remarks in a closed-door meeting with members of the National Republican Congressional Committee. The sentiments echo Trump's prior statements about the significance of retaliating against his adversaries. Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham, for example, is concerned about Trump regaining control of the White House. According to a recent poll, approximately 80% of Republicans want Trump to run for president in 2024. However, these seemingly unstoppable and previously high-flying brands have unexpectedly plunged, with shares mired in vicious downtrends for nearly the entire year so far. Throughout 2022, a hawkish Fed has made a significant impact on the bulk of these stocks. The Fed chose to hike interest rates in order to confront the highest inflation rates in decades. This has a significant impact on high-flying tech and growth businesses, as investors price in reduced future cash flows as the cost of debt required to sustain growth rises. While sentiment about these names has altered dramatically, keeping a bullish view on these firms in the long run is quite profitable. Instead of renting the U-Haul to move belongings, the driver thought it was a good idea to use the small truck to haul a car. And I'm not talking about hauling it on a trailer or dolly connected to the truck. No, that would make too much sense. Instead, the U-Haul driver decided to cram an entire vehicle into the back of the U-Haul. Of course, the SUV was too large to fit into the U-Haul fully, so the back end of the vehicle was sticking out of the moving truck while the driver was blissfully driving down the highway. What happened when the police pulled the driver over, and what was he ultimately charged with? Let's just say it ended with both the vehicle and the U-Haul being impounded. They were able to witness one of the craziest home run hits in Major League Baseball (MLB) history. Third baseman Anthony Rendon decided he would do something he had never done before in his 10-year MLB career: bat left-handed. To say that was a good decision would be an understatement. Angels' manager Joe Maddon discussed the wild home run after the game. "I thought it was great theater. It was the perfect time to pull it off. Baseball is looking for moments like that. The crowd responded properly. No disrespect to the other side. It was just a fun baseball moment," Maddon gushed.
