Jan 8, 2022  Spin Control  Image Source: CNN Democrats are looking into using an obscure Civil War-era clause of the 14th Amendment to keep Trump off the ballot in 2024.
The purpose of the amendment was to prevent Confederates from holding public office after fighting against the Union. Democrats are attempting to apply that to Trump as a result of what occurred on January 6, 2021.
"The point is that the constitutional purpose is clear, to keep people exactly like Donald Trump and other traitors to the union from holding public office," said Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland.
Section 3 does not require any action by the federal government, according to the left-wing organization Free Speech For People. They've written to all 50 states, informing them that Trump is unable to appear on future ballots due to constitutional violations. That should worry all voters, especially in the current political environment where everyone is worried about election fraud.
