Fashion Rediscovers Tweens, Billie Enters Walmart

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TODAY: TUESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2022 The fashion industry is struggling to compete with big tech for the talent they need to build out their metaverse dreams. Retailers are best served by adopting a long-term strategy built around non-traditional hires, experts say. Brands are paying more attention to tweens — the demographic too old to shop in the kids section and too young for teenage fashion — hoping to win their loyalty before they discover Shein, Abercrombie and Nike. Lululemon shares were down nearly 2 percent at closing after the retailer warned results would be at the low end of its previous guidance. Brunello Cucinelli posted a 31 percent increase in 2021 revenue, with sales above analyst estimates. DTC razor brand Billie, which was acquired by Edgewell late last year, is entering brick-and-mortar for the first time with a Walmart partnership.
