Well, Good Morning!
Let's take a look at what the day has in store for us.
So, let's dig in, shall we?
Here's What You Need To Know... How did a single LinkedIn message pave the way for The Facebook Files? Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz was trying to reach more sources at Facebook to learn how the company managed content during and around the 2020 election.
He tried "the old LinkedIn spamming approach to source building," as he called it in an interview. That's when reporters use the professional social network to message dozens of employees in the hopes of hearing back from one or two. And luckily for Horwitz, one of those messages stuck.
Frances Haugen was on Facebook's civic integrity team, which was dissolved in December 2020. "The day that I first heard from Frances was the day that the civic team got disbanded," Horwitz said. Here's why he says we should believe her.
This what you need to know about languishing, a mental health phenomena that impacts people worldwide Just because you're not dealing with full-blown depression, doesn't mean you're flourishing mentally. Quite the opposite. According to experts, there is a space between, and many people are experiencing that state right now. According to psychologist Corey L.M. Keyes, "languishing" is considered "[an] absence of mental health and mental illness," and symptoms are similar to burnout.
"You're just kinda stuck — and I think the reason [languishing] is getting so much attention now is because again I think the whole world is," says author Kristin Neff, who is also an authority on self-compassion.
How do you know if you're experiencing this phenomena as so many are right now? According to Chloe Carmichaael, who wrote the book Nervous Energy, "you're just… drifting through on a day-to-day type of level," and you may also notice you don't want to be around other people. Further, you may notice you're feeling a sense of numbness, or even a general experience of low self-worth. People who are languishing may skimp on self-care like hygiene, for example. And these are only a few of the telltale signs that languishing is something you may be struggling with.
But wait, aren't these symptoms the same thing as depression? According to Carmichael, "depression is a whole other beast," whereas languishing is more of a "lower-grade type of depressive feeling." Further, research suggests that the risk of experiencing "a major depressive episode" is higher for a person who has been languishing. Experts suggest five coping strategies to mitigate the impact of this issue, including: seeking help, working out, offering yourself compassion, planning a getaway, and listening to a self-development audio book.
Police detail cultish beliefs of mom charged in kids' deaths Newly released documents from the complex investigation of a woman accused of conspiring to kill her children and husband reveal sordid details of a cult-like belief system of "zombies" and "vibrations" plus a disintegrating marriage and an affair.
Documents from the Chandler Police Department in Arizona offer a detailed look at the lives of Lori and Chad Daybell via text messages, computer files, and interviews with close friends and family members.
Both are charged in Idaho with conspiracy to commit murder in the deaths of Lori's children, 7-year-old Joshua "JJ" Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan. They face the same charge in the death of Chad's previous wife, Tammy Daybell. Tammy Daybell died unexpectedly at the home in eastern Idaho that she shared with Chad Daybell and investigators became suspicious after Chad Daybell married Lori two weeks later.
As their relationship grew, so did their cult-like religious beliefs, according to investigators. Several family members and friends interviewed by detectives described them as having a strange doomsday-focused belief system, and some of the friends acknowledged adopting the beliefs as well. At times as many as 10 people were part of the loose religious group that met to pray, drive out evil spirits, and seek revelations from "beyond the spiritual veil."
