Well, Good Morning!
Let's take a look at what the day has in store for us.
So, let's dig in, shall we?
Here's What You Need To Know... New Jersey explosions, fires rock communities already shaken by Ida flooding An explosion in Rahway and several fires in Manville further devastated an already-battered New Jersey on Thursday and Friday after Ida brought deadly flooding and tornadoes to the state. At least 43 people have been reported dead after the floods.
Images and video posted to social media show black smoke billowing from a Manville home surrounded by murky floodwaters, and nighttime video footage captured the moment a Rahway house was reduced to rubble in a massive explosion. The explosion in Rahway wasn't the only one and Twitter users said and a Manville banquet hall explosion shook their homes.
A man who was driving by at the time of the explosion received minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. No other injuries were reported. Although the cause of the explosion is under investigation, city officials indicated it was related to a gas leak. Five other homes were damaged in the explosion.
Ex-Cardinal McCarrick, 91, pleads not guilty in sex assault Former Roman Catholic Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, the once-powerful American prelate who was expelled from the priesthood for sexual abuse, pleaded not guilty Friday to sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy during a wedding reception in Massachusetts nearly 50 years ago. McCarrick is the only U.S. Catholic cardinal, current or former, ever to be charged with child sex crimes.
McCarrick faces three counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, according to documents filed in the Dedham District Court. The alleged victim said the abuse started when he was a young boy, according to the court records. The man told authorities during an interview in January that McCarrick was close to his family and would perform wedding masses, baptisms, and funerals for them.
The case against McCarrick and other Catholic clerics is especially raw in Boston, where the global priest sex abuse scandal was first exposed. Anne Barrett Doyle, co-founder of the online research database BishopAccountability.org, said McCarrick's case marks a "new phase in the global struggle" to hold abusive clergy accountable.
US hiring slows as Delta variant weakens travel and tourism America's employers added just 235,000 jobs in August, a surprisingly weak gain after two months of robust hiring and the clearest sign to date that the Delta variant's spread has discouraged some people from flying, shopping and eating out.
Still, the number of job openings remains at record levels, with many businesses eager for workers, and hiring is likely to rebound in the coming months. Even last month's modest job growth was sufficient to lower the unemployment rate to 5.2% from 5.4% in July. With consumers willing to spend and companies trying to hire, the U.S. economy looks healthy.
Some live shows, including the remaining concerts on country star Garth Brooks' tour, have been canceled. Businesses are delaying their returns to offices, threatening the survival of some downtown restaurants, coffee shops, and dry cleaners.
As a consequence, many economists now predict that the Federal Reserve won't make a long-awaited announcement that it will begin dialing back its low-interest rate policies until November or later. Fed Chair Jerome Powell made clear last week that the central bank would begin to reverse its ultra-low-rate policies later this year if the economy continued to improve.
