| | Monday, July 19, 2021 | Play This Stock that Shot up 1,000% Last Week and Could Push Even Higher

Here we go again... It's time to start off another week with what I'm watching on the markets.
First up is the Chinese fintech firm SGOCO Group, Ltd (SGOC). Over two trading sessions (Friday, July 9, and Monday, July 12) exuberant traders drove shares of SGOC up more than 1,000% on nothing more than internet chatter.
That's absolutely bonkers!
Then, just like clockwork, shares fell as much as 68.96% in the following session (July 13, 2021).
That's not so bonkers. In fact, it totally makes sense, to me.
Since then, shares have been forming a wedge base, and I think we could see another push higher before the stock crashes again.
I'm watching SGOC to see if shares can get back up to $19.00. If that happens, I like "shorting" the stock outright (as it has no accompanying options). This would be a super speculative trade so I wouldn't allocate any more than 1% of my risk capital and I would cover the short if the stock trades up to $20.00 or down to $10.00.
At those prices, this trade has a 9-to-1 reward/risk profile.
Next up, United Airlines Holdings Inc. (UAL). Airline stocks, as well as most cyclical stocks, have been under pressure since the top of June when fears of inflation took over the narrative.
If UAL can beat analyst estimates and increase future guidance, tomorrow (Tuesday, July 20, after the close) we could see a strong push to the upside as bargain-hunting investors swoop in to establish positions.
I'm watching for a couple of things: 1) if UAL beat on earnings and raises guidance, and, 2) the stock trades above $52.00, I like buying the UAL September 17, 2021 $52.5/$55 Call Spread for $0.75 or less.
At that price, the trade would have a 3.33-to-1 reward/risk profile. I like that!
Whirlpool Corporation (WHR): On Wednesday July, 21st, the U.S.-based home appliance manufacturer is scheduled to report Q2/2021 results.
Given the constraints in the supply chain (which gives the company pricing power) and the red-hot real estate market (which creates huge demand at a time when there is a limited supply), I think WHR could have a blowout quarter. Remember WHR doesn't actually have to post huge numbers, it only needs to beat estimates in order to have a stellar quarter.
Once again, I'm watching two things here: 1) if the WHR beats analyst estimates, and, 2) the stock trades above $230.00, I like buying the WHR September 17, 2021 $230/$240 Call Spread for $4.00 or less.
At that price, this trade has a 2.5-to-1 reward/risk profile.
Finally, I'm watching Twitter Inc. (TWTR) which is scheduled to report earnings on July 22, 2021.
Yes, there are a ton of questions surrounding big tech and social media firms and how the Biden administration might try to reign them in. But I'm not watching TWTR with an eye to the future.
I like TWTR for a quick, post-earnings move, either up or down, as long as the stock makes a big move, up or down, which it has a history of doing over the last two quarters.
In February 2021, after the company reported Q4/2020 results, the stock jumped as much as 34.8% over 11 sessions. And then in late April 2021, when the company reported Q1/2021 results, the stock dropped 24% over eight sessions.
I'd say those qualify as big moves.
It's possible we could get another big move after this week's earnings, which is why I like buying the TWTR August 20, 2021 $67.5 Straddle for $8.00 or less. No need to get too greedy, here, I'd close down the position for a quick 25% (or more) profit.
