CBSN Originals' new documentary explores why women still fight to close the leadership gap in corporate America. Even after the #MeToo movement sparked calls for more women in positions of power, the leadership gender gap has yet to close, and the pandemic's impact on women in the workforce has set back progress even further. By January 2021, women's employment had dropped to a 33-year low. Of the 2021 Fortune500 companies only 41 are run by women--and only two by Black women, up from zero the year prior. At the same time, as some women do climb the ranks, some female CEOs who had allegedly created toxic workplace cultures are facing a reckoning, while some say male CEOs are let off the hook for similar behavior. For the CBSN Originals half-hour documentary, Women in the Workplace: The Unfinished Fight for Equality, several women share their stories of combating harassment, toxic work environments, and gender expectations that keep women from reaching top positions in their field.
