Democrats take Senate majority with Georgia wins

Democrats have won full control of Congress to go along with the White House in Georgia's Senate runoffs, with Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock flipping the Senate by defeating Republican incumbents David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler.

The victories — with Warnock declared the winner early Wednesday morning and Ossoff winning his race later in the day — give Democrats the opportunity to pursue more sweeping change in Washington and push the agenda President-elect Joe Biden ran on in 2020, including major new pandemic relief and more. But they will have to navigate narrow majorities in both the House and the Senate. Ossoff and Warnock's wins will split the Senate 50-50, with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris able to break ties once she is inaugurated.
