To improve the lives of people affected by COVID-19 and chronic conditions in our mission, NIDDK continues to work to achieve health equity through diversifying representation in research studies, clinical trials, and the medical workforce. READ MORE NIDDK-funded program promotes diversity in academic pediatrics Survey shows success! In 2012, the Academic Pediatric Association – with funding from NIDDK – created a program to increase diversity in the pediatric research workforce by supporting early career scholars. Now a study finds the program is meeting its goals and could set a model for other programs with the same mission. Getting to know: Dr. Stephanie Chung Dr. Stephanie Chung, NIH Lasker Scholar tenure-track investigator, leads an NIDDK clinical research program to improve outcomes for type 2 diabetes in children and young adults. Learn more about her work and how she teams with families to manage diabetes in youth. Painting the pandemic: NIDDK employee shares artistic talents NIDDK's Dr. Maren Laughlin picked up her paintbrush to find comfort and connection amid the pandemic. The program director created a vibrant series of "COVID Portraits," now on display in the NIH Clinical Center.
