Florida's Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, responded angrily to New York City's Democratic mayor, Eric Adams, who had offered to teach DeSantis about the "values" of the city's crime-ridden neighborhoods. Adams took a jab at DeSantis on Monday, the day the Florida governor began his pro-police tour of cities run by the Democratic Party in the City that Never Sleeps. Minutes later, a spokeswoman for the DeSantis campaign, Christina Pushaw, responded, saying that New York City had more people leave than any other major city in the country in 2022. In a diner on the red borough of Staten Island, DeSantis began his tour on Monday morning with a meeting with police officers and law enforcement union officials. (read more) | |

Investors learned the hard way in 2022 that the stock market fluctuates yearly. The ageless Dow Jones Industrial Average, benchmark S&P 500, and growth stock-fueled Nasdaq Composite all tumbled into respective bear markets this year and produced their poorest results since 2008. This was after an almost unstoppable rise to new highs in 2021. The beginning of 2023, however, has been the exact opposite. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq were each up 6.5% and 13.3% as of the closing bell on February 16. Many investors are rightfully wondering if the worst is over as a result. However, one telltale bear market indicator with a foolproof track record when backdated to 1870 would beg to differ with that assumption. (read more) |

One woman is behind bars after taking fast food too seriously. The woman, Amari Hendricks, brandished a handgun in an Altamonte Springs McDonald's drive-thru. McDonald's employees say Hendricks was mad because no one asked her if she would be using the restaurant's rewards program on her order. When she arrived to the window to pay, they noted she was very irate and was yelling. Hendricks felt she was entitled to a free item because of the rewards program. So she grabbed a handgun from the backseat of the car, loaded it, and put a round in the chamber. She then waved the gun at employees, parked her car, and tried to gain entry to the restaurant. Once inside, Hendricks struck an employee with her hands multiple times and forced him out of the building. The employee had multiple scratches on his face and neck. Here's how the bizarre situation ended. And to think that it all started over a cookie. (read more) |
