BREAKING NEWS BRIEF
Image Source: NPR On May 23, the Biden administration plans to eliminate Title 42, which imposes broad pandemic border restrictions. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued the official statement on Friday.
Coronavirus transmission by migrants captured at the US-Mexico border has "ceased to be a substantial threat to public health," according to CDC Director Rochelle Walensky.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has utilized the contentious public health order to promptly deport migrants at the border due to health concerns related to the coronavirus outbreak since March 2020.
Advocates for immigrants say the U.S. should welcome asylum-seekers wherever they are from. "We are asking to revoke Title 42 and welcome people, whether they are coming from Ukraine, Haiti, Cameroon, Central America," Guerline Jozef, the Haitian Bridge Alliance executive director, said earlier this month.

HEALTH & WELLNESS
Image Source: Verywell Find A new report from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is rocking the health world, as some troubling findings about the mental health of teenagers were unveiled.
According to the report, the majority of teens say they endured some form of emotional abuse from a parent, guardian, or another adult in the home during the lockdown in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. Teens reported being insulted, yelled at, put down, and other forms of emotional abuse.
"Our data make it clear that young people experienced significant disruption and adversity during the pandemic and are experiencing a mental health crisis," Kathleen Ethier, director of the CDC's Division of Adolescent and School Health said.
Another CDC official referred to the findings as "a cry for help."
BUSINESS & MARKETS
Image Source: Petros Giannakouris Americans aren't the only ones dealing with record-setting inflation and rising energy prices.
According to a new report, European countries that use the euro currency saw a 7.5% increase in consumer prices. That smashes the previous high figure of 5.9% from last month.
Consumer costs are on the rise all throughout the world, making it increasingly difficult for individuals to pay for everything from groceries to electricity bills.
But not everything can be blamed on the ongoing war in Ukraine. Because of increased demand from economies recovering from the worldwide pandemic, oil and gas prices had already been rising.
The rise in prices isn't restricted to just a few sectors of the market. Nearly everything consumers want or need is more expensive.
REAL ESTATE & HOUSING
Image Source: MReport Perhaps the skyrocketing home prices (and, let's face it, the higher prices everywhere) have you thinking that owning a home will be out of reach forever.
Perhaps you are convinced that the cost of being tied to one place is too high for you to pay.
Or maybe you don't want to be on the hook for every single repair that comes your way.
But you might have also noticed that rent has soared to new, unimaginable levels.
You might also realize that traveling is difficult when you are tied to a yearly lease.
Perhaps your landlord is not always quick to fix the leaky faucets.
Whichever way you slice it, there are some definite advantages and disadvantages to consider when determining if purchasing or renting is the right option.

SCIENCE & DISCOVERY
Image Source: NASA Picture this: A star 500 times bigger than the sun and a million times as bright. Named Earendel, it sparkles about 28 billion light years away from us, and, thanks to the Hubble Space Telescope, we just caught a glimpse.
This is a huge milestone. For one thing, this is the farthest we've ever looked into space and, therefore, back in time. Earendal was formed only 900 million years after the Big Bang.
While that might seem like a long time, it's not.
"When the light that we see from Earendel was emitted, the universe was less than a billion years old; only 6% of its current age," said researcher Victoria Strait. "At that time it was 4 billion light-years away from the proto-Milky Way, but during the almost 13 billion years it took the light to reach us, the universe has expanded so that it is now a staggering 28 billion light-years away."
