The evidence is mounting against a US recession, but some on Wall Street are warning against becoming overconfident.
Numerous weakening data points in recent weeks have shown a robust but cooling economy. Investors are now more optimistic that the United States will be able to escape a recession despite the Federal Reserve's rapid pace of interest rate increases.
Wall Street's optimism for a "soft landing," or a scenario in which inflation declines to the Fed's 2% objective without a recession or a significant drop in the economy, was strengthened by the July jobs report.
However, some investors continue to believe that the US economy may enter a recession later in the year. (read more) |

According to a Rasmussen study, many voters feel that if their preferred presidential candidate loses in 2024, the United States will be ruined. According to the study, 40% of probable US voters agree with the statement that "Joe Biden must be re-elected president next year, or the United States is doomed," with 25% strongly agreeing. 53% of respondents disagree, with 43% strongly disagreeing. "Donald Trump must be re-elected president next year or the United States is doomed," is a statement that is supported by 45% of people, including 26% of strong supporters. 53% of respondents disagree, including 44% who strongly disagree. Alan Todd May, a person who made his career as a fraudster, was spending time in a Colorado prison after being sentenced for federal fraud crimes. But May somehow escaped the federal prison in 2018 and has been on the run ever since. But authorities finally caught up with May in Florida recently. As it turns out, May was living quite the lavish life in the state under the identity Jacob Turner. He was known for attending high-end fundraisers, other swanky events and driving an expensive Mercedes-Benz. When federal marshals caught up with May, he was actually moving into a $1.5 million dollar home and was wearing an expensive Rolex watch. Melody Felicano Johnson of Tucson Arizona was indicted by a grand jury on charges of first-degree attempted murder for trying to kill her husband by poisoning his coffee on a daily basis for several months. Roby Johnson, who is serving in the US Air Force, reported that he began to notice a foul taste to his coffee while he and he wife were stationed in Germany. The couple was in the process of going through a divorce, but still living together with their child at the time.
