Well, Good Morning!
Let's take a look at what the day has in store for us.
So, let's dig in, shall we?
Here's What You Need To Know... This is how our biggest enemy could overtake us when it comes to advanced technology Throughout the Trump administration, relations with China reached new levels of tension that have only continued since Bidden took office. Although Biden is reportedly doing his best to smooth things over with Beijing, China recently called his bluff when it came to a statement he made during his most recent town hall.
Speaking on CNN, Biden was questioned about whether the U.S. would intervene if hostilities continued between China and Taiwan. Although historically presidents have avoided ouotright saying what the United States would do if China moved to take Taiwan, Biden explicitly stated that we do have a "commitment" to come to Taiwan's aid.
China didn't take kindly to his remarks, and it comes on the heels of another long-term crisis. On Friday, U.S. intelligence officials issued brand-new warnings we should all be paying careful attention to. Our intelligence agencies have narrowed their focus to five key sectors: artificial intelligence, quantum computing, biotechnology, semiconductors, and autonomous systems. There's a good reason for zeroing in: China (and Russia) could blow us out of the water.
Authorities confirm that the human remains found earlier this week do actually belong to Brian Laundrie We've been following the Gabby Petito case since it first gathered national attention last month, and, in the latest development in the case, it appears the manhunt for fugitive Brian Laundrie has finally come to a close. As we reported earlier this week, human remains were discovered in an area of the reserve near where Laundrie's parents indicated he might have been. On Thursday night, officials with the FBI said that dental records confirmed the remains were indeed Laundrie's, who had been the only person of interest in Petito's death.
Brian's parents, Chris and Roberta Laundrie, were apparently the people to make the grim discoveries on Wednesday as they joined the search for their son. This detail has provoked people to ask the question "Why?" Why did Laundrie's parents choose that day to join investigators? Why were they the ones to find the backpack and notebook that led to Laundrie's remains, instead of the trained officials who'd spent weeks looking?
"The parents had assumed that the experts, the FBI and all the tracking teams they had would be able to locate Brian based upon the information that we had provided them, to the specific areas and trails in the park that Brian liked to visit," said Steven Bertolino. "This is the very area of the park that we initially informed law enforcement on, I believe it was September 17th, that Brian would be most likely in the preserve in this particular area as I know it, near the bridge."
This is how the conversation around inflation continues to evolve (and why it matters) Pandemic-era supply chain issues show no sign of slowing down, despite the Biden administration's best efforts to untangle the myriad issues currently plaguing our post-virus economy. He's already taken several measures to revive the economy, and even stated that he would consider deploying the national guard to drive trucks.
But, even aside from the White House walking back that last claim, we're still in plenty of hot water — and it could be getting worse. Despite officials trying to soothe consumers' fears (and stymie a stock market catastrophe in the process), inflation is still very much a major issue. And with the jobs report looking like it does, that spells trouble. Here's a quick rundown.
Prices have been growing strongly in recent months — consistently enough that some experts are raising alarm bells that we're heading into a period of runaway inflation. Hedge fund titan Paul Tudor Jones told CNBC on Wednesday that inflation is "probably the single biggest threat" to financial markets.
Economists are now expecting the price rises to continue into next year. Fed chair Jerome Powell acknowledged as much at a September hearing before the Senate banking committee. Thankfully, wages are largely keeping up with price growth, limiting the negative effects on consumer pocketbooks — for now. And for those that are less worried about longer-term inflation, the bigger risk is that the Fed hikes rates too soon.
