Gun training for real situations

Shooting a gun in an emergency will not go as you expect. I truly hope you will never be in a situation like this, but I would be doing you a disservice if I kept these facts to myself. When I see civilians training with guns, it is almost always within the same scenario. They're holding a gun in a relatively comfortable position, aiming straightforward, and trying to shoot the center of a target that's a certain distance away. The only variation they have in their training is what gun they use and how far away the target is. But in an emergency, you will rarely have a clean direct shot. If you do, you will have almost no time at all to make your move. And you almost certainly will not be in a comfortable position. That's why at Sheepdog Training in Escondido, Sept 19-20, we'll be doing tactical shooting, and showing you the applications that save lives during emergency situations.  Throughout the event, we'll be giving you scenarios that can happen and show you how to escape or confront a threat. This is very important, because you never know what kind of situation you will be in that requires a firearm. For example, what if you are sitting on the ground behind a car and have 5 seconds to decide whether to shoot? Or if you're in a closed room and know the attacker is trying to get in, but don't know where exactly they are behind the door? (And do you even want to try shooting through the door? What if you only have one bullet and you don't know if it will go through?) There are so many different situations to prepare yourself for. And that's why we specifically pick drills that will train you for a variety of situations. We intentionally don't reveal which drills we'll be doing ahead of time, because we want to keep our Sheepdog cadets fresh and thinking on their feet. Some scenarios will be in the mind, where you tell us what you would do (and your instructors will correct you). Others you will act out in real-time, and our instructors will let you know if you would have survived or fallen.
