MANILA, Philippines — A movement for good governance against corruption in local governments is stirring to life and has already received support from around 150 city and municipal mayors in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao since it was launched late last week.

Wage hike bids gain traction; 'kasambahay' pay included


Wage hike petitions in two more regions are gaining traction after the wage boards in Ilocos and Central Luzon scheduled public hearings and consultations in the next two weeks for minimum pay adjustments for private sector employees, including domestic workers.

More cumbersome travel rules


Rather than imposing all kinds of cumbersome rules on Filipino passengers, majority of whom have legitimate reasons and means to travel, the immigration and airport authorities must seriously cleanse their ranks. As long as our airport gatekeepers are viewed as corrupt and hopelessly inefficient, trafficking syndicates will always be one step ahead of them despite all these superfluous requirements.
