CMS Releases Information on the Coverage of New Treatments for Sickle Cell Disease

Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released information on Medicaid and CHIP coverage of new treatments for sickle cell disease (SCD) on a new website highlighting opportunities to improve care. The website includes a slide deck presented to state Medicaid and CHIP officials in February 2024, as well as reports on demographics, health, and healthcare of individuals with SCD, and quality improvement tools that states can use to improve care for individuals with sickle cell disease.
