Good morning, dear readers. It is I, Brigid Kennedy, welcoming you back to another edition of SI:CYMI. We made it to Wednesday. Great work.
In other news, Ben Stiller finally dropped his cinematic courtside clip from the Finals, and it was well worth the wait. Forward this to a friend who will probably be retweeting the footage posthaste.

LOOKING BACK: Now that the Knicks are a few days removed from winning the chip, the type of content we’re really interested in is more reflective than anything. What were the big moves that got us here? What decisions can we revisit? What predictions came true? For one, there was James Dolan’s prescient assertion that the team would win. Talk about calling your shot. … And, in the realm of gambles that paid off, we have Jalen Brunson’s team-friendly extension, as well as the three blockbuster trades for OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns. All three of those pieces are worth your time this morning. ... Also, KAT shared the driving reason why he didn’t trash talk Victor Wembanyama throughout the championship series.
BIG SWINGS: We’ll be keeping the U.S. Open content coming ahead of tomorrow’s start. And in great news for us viewers, this tournament should be a terror for golfers but a delight for fans. … Perhaps the biggest storyline going into the weekend is whether Scottie Scheffler will be able to complete his career Grand Slam with a win at Shinnecock Hills. Here’s a look at the six golfers who have pulled it off. … Also, tee times were released on Tuesday, so our Andy Nesbitt put together a list of the spiciest seven groups to watch.
BEST OF THE REST: Did you hear the news? Venus and Serena Williams are reuniting at Wimbledon this summer, which made me think about the last time they won the tournament as a pair. Here’s what the world looked like at the time. … Caitlin Clark is doing a lot of teasing around her first-ever signature shoe with Nike, rumored to be named the “Caitlin1.” This is what we know so far. … In the spirit of Calvin Johnson’s single-season receiving mark, which the former Lions receiver believes will soon be overtaken, SI’s Eva Geithem rounded up a few different NFL records that could fall in the near future. … Could Brendan Sorsby’s professional career begin with a suspension? It’s possible. …The Troy Trojans have had a wild ride at the Men’s College World Series. … And finally, Karl Rasmussen graded the Maple Leafs-Flyers trade that sent Toronto’s Joseph Woll and Simon Benoit to the Flyers, and a 2026 third-round pick, goaltender Samuel Ersson and defenseman Emil Andrae back to the Leafs.

Did someone say "GOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!" ...
WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?: The Knicks were on The Tonight Show on Monday, which meant this clip of Mike Brown explaining the lore behind his “Who Let the Dogs Out?” bit was all over my timeline on Tuesday. Honestly, I loved it. Brown is giving unashamed dad, while KAT and Jalen Brunson are laughing like embarrassed but loving sons.
LEO!: Lionel Messi scored all three goals in Argentina’s Group Stage win vs. Algeria on Tuesday night, which marks his first career World Cup hat trick. It also ties him with Miroslav Klose for most goals in men’s World Cup history (16). GOAT stuff, as Jameis Winston would say (please click that link, I beg of you). Anyway, watch Messi's third goal here.
WE KNOW BALL: If it felt like the NBA Finals were much more popular this year, it’s because … they were. In fact, the series between the Spurs and the Knicks was actually the most-watched NBA Finals in 28 years, averaging 20.6 million viewers per game on ABC and ESPN. Sheeeeesh.

📺 What we’re watching tonight ... |

WNBA:
Liberty @ Sky—8 p.m. ET; USA Network Aces @ Mercury—10 p.m. ET; USA Network
The Liberty sit atop the Eastern Conference with a 10–4 record and a seven-game win streak. It seems unlikely that the 4–9 Sky will be the ones to stop that run, but hey, stranger things have happened. The Aces, meanwhile—in second place in the West—are fresh off yet another upset at the hands of the Wings … and by 30 points, no less. If Las Vegas can avoid another shock from Phoenix (who did beat the A’ja Wilson-led squad at the start of the season), they’ll make it into the Commissioner’s Cup final vs. New York on June 30.
MLB:
Rays @ Dodgers—3:10 p.m. ET—MLB.TV White Sox @ Yankees—7:05 p.m. ET; Prime Video, MLB.TV
This afternoon, we’ll get another opportunity to see Shohei Ohtani on the mound when he steps up vs. the Rays for the final game of this series. Shane McClanahan will lead for Tampa Bay. Then, on Prime Video’s national broadcast, we’ll have White Sox vs. the Yankees at 7 p.m. ET. The typically bottom-dwelling White Sox have actually been having a nice run this season, but they were quite literally walloped by the Yanks on Tuesday, 12 runs to two. So. We’ll see if they can turn the tide (or at least lose by single digits) tonight.
And with that, I take my leave. Have a good one, my friends, and I will see you soon!
