Hi there. Palace says PH won't work with ICC on drug war probe

No, the Marcos administration will not work with the International Criminal Court and give it access to findings of the House quad committee probe into the bloody Duterte drug war, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said Monday.

It's one of the world's most disaster- prone countries, but PH also serves as "a lighthouse to the rest of the [Asia-Pacific] region and the world" when it comes to disaster risk reduction efforts, said a UN official on the eve of a major environmental meet in Manila.

Unshockingly, yet another policeman —assigned to the PNP headquarters Camp Crame in QC no less —has been charged with murder, along with three others, this time for the killing of Bulacan official Ramilito Capistrano and his driver early this month.

First, chocolate and sugar, now butter: Prices for the commodity have spiked across Europe in recent months due to strong demand and tight butter stocks —bad news for bakers and pastry makers as they prepare for Christmas celebrations.

Columnist Cielito Habito poses an urgent question in Opinion: "Do we really need to ask for huge additional budgets year after year? Or shouldn't we first demand much better quality spending from government to get far more pop for the pesos we pay in taxes?"

Asean sees no evil, speaks no evil

By seeing and speaking no evil, the bloc risks losing what's left of its credibility and relevance as its silence signals complicity in the acts of a dominant power. If Asean hopes to be a force for peace in the region, it must discard its cowardly stance disguised as the 'Asean Way' and stand united against the neighborhood bully.

Hergie beats Chinese foe without a fight

Hergie Bacyadan became the example of a popular Chinese adage after she beat her Chinese foe without throwing a single punch in the title bout of the Asian Kickboxing Championships. Jumping out of her corner and ready to deal her opponent the kind of beating she dished out to win her semifinal, Bacyadan triumphed in an odd result: Teng Jinwei threw in the towel after just five seconds of nonaction.

'Invisible' shipwrecks: Gone without a trace on the way to the US

PALMA SOLA, CUBA— The group's homemade boat, or "balsa," seemed like a winner, said Carlos Raul Reyes, an experienced local fisherman whose nephew was among the crew. He said it measured nearly 9 meters in length, built from solid wood planks with 16 flotation tanks— repurposed gas cans—to each side and a bus engine for power.
