Monday brought some massive surprises in the round of 32.

Brazil and Japan played out a thriller which was ultimately edged by Carlo Ancelotti’s side, but that was only the start of the drama on Monday. Germany’s World Cup journey came to yet another humiliating end as it fell to Paraguay on penalties, before another shootout was needed to steer Morocco beyond the Netherlands. Will Tuesday bring more surprises? France will certainly hope not. Les Bleus are back in action against Sweden, but not before Erling Haaland’s Norway does battle with Yan Diomande’s Côte d’Ivoire in another potential barnstormer. The day rounds out with Mexico vs. Ecuador, before we turn our attention to the USMNT’s return to the pitch on Wednesday. Mauricio Pochettino will already be thinking about the changes he needs to make to steer the U.S. beyond Bosnia and Herzegovina and keep the team’s dream of a deep run this summer alive.
