| Keep An Eye On Knightscope |
| | | Hey Folks,
America's physical security infrastructure is under serious strain. A violent incident occurs every 26 seconds in the United States. A property crime every 4 seconds. And the price tag for 24/7 coverage at a single location can run anywhere from $220,000 to $570,000 per year in guard costs alone.
Guards, cameras, sensors, and monitoring software all operate in separate silos. Nobody owns the problem end to end. The same forces that disrupted transportation and communications are now pointed at a $230 billion market that has barely seen real innovation. One company is trying to change that.
Knightscope, Inc. (NASDAQ: KSCP) is a Silicon Valley-based security technology company that combines autonomous robots, AI-driven software, and augmented security agents into a single fully managed service. The company calls it the Autonomous Security Force, and it is designed to deter, detect, and respond to threats in real time. | | | What Does the Company Actually Do?
Knightscope operates across three integrated components that work together as one managed operation: Hardware + Software + Humans.
The first is its hardware layer. The company manufactures and deploys autonomous security robots and emergency communication devices that patrol and monitor facilities around the clock. These machines are not remotely controlled. They operate independently, equipped with 360-degree cameras, license plate recognition, two-way audio, and AI-driven anomaly detection.
The second is its software layer. The all-new Signals software platform, under development, fuses data from every machine and human in the network, prioritizes alerts, and orchestrates escalation and response workflows using AI agents. The idea is that security teams should only be seeing what truly requires their attention, not drowning in a flood of false positives.
The third is its human layer. The company maintains an RTX human-in-the-loop remote monitoring team that verifies events and manages edge cases around the clock, plus a planned force of Augmented Security Agents who provide licensed guarding capability across client contracts - both armed and unarmed.
The business runs on a Machine-as-a-Service (MaaS) model, which is similar in concept to how managed IT services work. Clients pay a recurring subscription fee and get hardware, software, and human oversight bundled into a single managed operation. No large capital outlay. No fragmented vendors to coordinate. Just one provider that owns the outcome.
The Product Lineup
Knightscope currently fields two product families, with a third generation launching in the second half of 2026.
The K5 Autonomous Security Robot is the workhorse of the existing fleet. It is designed for outdoor patrol environments and handles:
✔️ 360-degree HD video and sensor coverage at eye level ✔️ License plate recognition and mobile device detection ✔️ Two-way audio and public announcements ✔️ AI-driven anomaly detection and real-time alerts ✔️ Autonomous navigation without remote control
The K1 product family covers emergency communication. The K1 Blue Light Tower, K1 Call Box, and K1 Hemisphere are deployed across universities, hospitals, government facilities, transit hubs, and public spaces nationwide. These are not passive devices. They feed live data back into the Signals platform and serve as visible deterrents and instant lifelines for people in distress. | | | Coming in the second half of 2026 is the K7 Autonomous Security Robot, a larger off-road capable unit built for environments the current fleet cannot reach: miles of fence lines, solar farms, logistics yards, military bases, and critical infrastructure. Also joining the lineup are the K1 Capsule and K1 Super Tower. All three integrate with the all-new Signals software platform.
Revenue Growth and Recent Results
In the third quarter of 2025, Knightscope reported revenue of $3.1 million, up 24% from the same period a year earlier. Full-year 2025 revenue is estimated at approximately $11.85 million. Cash and cash equivalents stood at $20.4 million as of September 30, 2025, a $15.2 million improvement from the prior year.
On the sales front, the company has exceeded $1 million in new contracts, renewals, and expansions every single month from April through December 2025, a streak of eight consecutive months. One month during that run topped $2 million in a single reporting period. The client base spans healthcare networks, universities, casinos, solar manufacturing facilities, semiconductor testing centers, commercial real estate operators, and local governments.
The Acquisition and Workforce Expansion | | | In March 2026, Knightscope closed its acquisition of Event Risk, a nationwide provider of armed and unarmed security guarding services with Fortune 1000 client relationships and consistent double-digit growth. The deal is part of a broader acquisition strategy managed by Lake Street Capital Markets, retained in February 2026 as the company's exclusive buy-side financial advisor, with a mandate to acquire profitable guarding companies as deployment channels for autonomous machines. Watch the interview here.
In connection with the acquisition, the company quadrupled its total workforce to over 400 personnel, including 290 security agents now supporting client deployments nationwide.
Knightscope is offering equity participation to frontline agents through an inducement grant program to differentiate itself in a market known for extreme turnover.
The Federal Angle | | In July 2025, Knightscope signed a two-year agreement with Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR), joining Palantir's FedStart program. The collaboration gives Knightscope an accelerated pathway toward FedRAMP High and DoD Impact Level 5 certification, the approvals required to operate inside the most sensitive U.S. government environments.
The U.S. government and public safety vertical represents the single largest segment of the $230 billion physical security market, estimated at $57 billion. It is also the segment most actively seeking alternatives to legacy systems that are human-dependent, fragmented, and reactive. | | Worth Keeping an Eye On?
Knightscope presents an interesting combination of autonomous hardware, recurring subscription revenue, AI-driven software, and now a growing human services operation under one managed service umbrella. The company's acquisition strategy is moving quickly, the Palantir partnership opens a federal pathway that would otherwise take years to navigate independently, and the upcoming K7 platform is designed to unlock outdoor and critical infrastructure markets the current fleet cannot address.
For those tracking the intersection of physical AI, autonomous systems, and the disruption of a historically fragmented security industry, KSCP may be a name worth watching as the company scales its Autonomous Security Force and works through its next phase of deployments.
Anyways...
That's all for now!
