| Get Help with Your Application: Watch the Webinar and Review FAQs Do you have questions about the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Programs? The application assistance webinar reviewed eligibility requirements, application process and more. The application deadline is Tuesday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. ET. | | | | Frequently Asked Questions Q. Am I eligible for NHSC Loan Repayment Programs? A: You must: - Be a U.S. citizen or national.
- Have a license to practice in the discipline and state you are applying to serve.
- Be a provider (or eligible to participate as a provider) in the Medicare, Medicaid, and the State Children's Health Insurance Program, as appropriate.
- Have qualifying student loan debt.
- Work at an NHSC-approved site.
| Q. What documents do I need to apply? A. The NHSC Loan Repayment Program Application Program Guidance (pages 49-52) outlines all required documents such as proof of U.S. citizenship, health professional license and certifications, loan information verification, and other supporting materials. Note: a Real ID drivers license is not a valid proof of citizenship. Use the Loan Repayment Program Application Checklist to help you complete and submit your application. Q. What loans are eligible for repayment? A. Qualifying loans include outstanding government (federal, state, or local) and commercial (private) student loans obtained for undergraduate or graduate education, covering tuition, reasonable educational expenses, and reasonable living expenses, as long as the loans were taken out before the application date. Q. Is my site eligible? A. Participants must serve at an NHSC-approved site located in a federally designated Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA). Q. I'm currently enrolled in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF). Can I also apply to NHSC LRP? A. Yes, you can participate in NHSC LRP and PSLF simultaneously. PSLF is not considered service obligation in the way that other loan repayment programs are, so it does not conflict with NHSC participation. Continue meeting PSLF's requirements (qualifying payments, qualifying employer) alongside your NHSC service obligation. | | | | Join us at an upcoming Q&A session: | | | | Login Issues? through our webform.
