Thanks to Sheryl Miller for copy editing. | | | 1 big thing: TikTok grows as a news source | | Data: Pew Research Center; Chart: Axios Visuals A growing number of Americans get news from TikTok — but not by following journalists or news organizations, Axios Communicators author Eleanor Hawkins writes from a new Pew Research Center report. - Nearly half of Americans say they get news from social media platforms, according to Pew.
- And 52% of TikTok users say they regularly get news from the app, up from 22% in 2020.
π️ But less than 1% of people Pew surveyed said they follow journalists or media entities on the platform. - When they're seeing news, they're usually getting it from content creators who reference current events.

πΊ Driving the news: Harris is making several national media appearances this week, after largely avoiding questions from either the press or voters since becoming the party's presidential candidate. - What she's saying: Iran is the U.S.' greatest adversary, Harris said in a "60 Minutes" interview that aired last night.
- "Iran has American blood on their hands, OK? This attack on Israel — 200 ballistic missiles. What we need to do to ensure that Iran never achieves the ability to be a nuclear power, that is one of my highest priorities," she said.
