HOLY DAY   Muslims pray at Rizal Park on Sunday, the eve of Eid al-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice commemorating the prophet Ibrahim's obedience to God's command. President Marcos on June 4 issued Proclamation No. 579 designating June 17 as a regular holiday, in accordance with Republic Act No. 9849 and also upon the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos. —RICHARD A. Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian on Sunday slammed the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) for its apparent failure to implement provisions of Republic Act No. 11934, or the SIM Registration Act, saying it led scammers involved in various Pogos to perpetrate various fraud and scamming activities.

Group refutes Army account: Boy slain in Kudarat not NPA rebel


DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The group Save Our Schools (SOS) Network urged the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) to conduct a prompt and impartial investigation into the death of a 16-year-old boy in Senator Ninoy Aquino town of Sultan Kudarat province on Saturday, as the "lumad" (indigenous peoples) youth allegedly did not die in a clash but was shot by soldiers.
