The Contra Costa County Elections Office discovered that Cesar Zepeda and Andrew Butt both garnered precisely 1,921 votes in the November election after finishing its ballot counting and audit last week. The Richmond City Clerk's Office instructed them to break the tie by having them individually write their names in Sharpie on a piece of paper, put it in an identical, unmarked envelope, seal it, and shake the bag in turn. The procedure was broadcast live on the city website. After the first attempt saw Richmond City Clerk Pamela Christian draw both envelopes, the bag was vigorously shaken again before she drew out one lime green envelope. So, who won? Find out, plus learn why California election law left them few other choices. (read more)

While I can't say that I'm surprised that Herschel Walker failed to pull off a Georgia Senate win, that doesn't mean I have to like it. Walker was already struggling when it came to messaging and winning voters over. But once Trump's dinner with anti-Semites happened, I was pretty sure we'd blown it in Georgia. And headlines like this one are why it just ticks me off. Because the last thing I want Biden to have is more breathing room to pursue his insanely liberal agenda. But that's exactly what he's getting. "When it comes to the Democrats' legislative agenda, when it comes to Democrats' legislative agenda, [it] gives us a little more breathing room, a little bit more ability to deliver for the American people," Jean-Pierre said. And here's what she had to say when another reporter asked her to elaborate on what "more breathing room" for Biden looks like... (read more)

Trump stated in a Truth Social post that he had nothing to do with the midterm election results and that he knows who is responsible for the losses. Trump asserts that establishment Republicans actively opposed Pro-MAGA candidates. McConnell reduced financing for contested races and sent funds to defend RINOs against MAGA opponents. The Senate Leadership Fund raised $250 million during the cycle of midterm elections. At the conclusion of the midterms, $40 million remained in the fund. So, does Trump have a valid argument, or is he simply making excuses for his defeat? (read more)

The good thing about market crashes is that bull markets invariably follow them. And whereas bear markets tend to be measured in months, the subsequent rallies can go on for years. Since 1928, the average bear market has lasted 15 months, while the average bull market lasted three years. Even better, from 1970 on, bull markets have tended to stick around for more than six years on average. Even with the S&P 500 down 16% in 2022, there's a good chance it could go lower if a recession hits early next year, as many analysts suspect. There are a number of stocks that are bargains right now. However, here are two exceptional stocks you'll regret not buying if the stock market crashes. (read more) |
