It was completed in 1935 and provides enough hydroelectric power to serve about 1.3 million people. So what caused the explosion, and were there any injuries? (read more) |

A tourist visiting the Hoover Dam got a bit more than she expected when she went for her tour. While she was there, she captured video and audio of a small explosion and fire that erupted. Despite state restrictions banning the drug, the White House under President Joe Biden is considering taking executive action to make abortion pills available nationwide. The government may declare a public health emergency to let pharmacists and abortion providers supply chemical abortion pills using the executive authority afforded by the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness (PREP) Act. The PREP Act option is preferred by White House staff, but they are still dubious about the ability of the emergency measures to withstand legal challenges in court. (read more) | |

The stock market frequently suffers when the nation experiences a recession. However, specific equities perform better than others during economic downturns. The kinds of equities that do better during a recession are often those of businesses that offer less price-sensitive products and services or products that people will buy even if the price goes up or if they fear losing their jobs. Consumer goods, healthcare, utilities, grocery stores, and bargain merchants are a few of the industries that these belong to. (read more) |

Twenty-six-year-old Doug Solomon jumped 16 floors to his death at the family's ritzy Upper Easy Side co-op on Tuesday after killing his mother, Diane Gallagher. Gallagher was a retired Manhattan supreme court judge. Solomon was found in the courtyard naked and bleeding around 10:30 a.m. Cops and witnesses say he could be heard screaming on the way down. Police say they are investigating the deaths of the two individuals as a murder suicide, but that there was no history of domestic violence or mental health issues within the family. "I heard a bunch of voices. I thought it was construction workers arguing," a resident said. Here's what police say Solomon did to his mother before jumping out of the home. (read more) |
