A former Watergate prosecutor is weighing in on what's been happening in the Jan. 6 committee hearings. Based on what he's seen, he thinks they could slap Donald Trump with either a charge of rebellion or insurrection in an effort to prevent him from holding future office. Her name is Jill Wine-Banks, and she noted that unlike a seditious conspiracy charge, a rebellion or insurrection charge means that if Trump were convicted, he would be barred from "ever holding federal office again." Has this been their goal all along? And what are the chances it could actually even happen? (read more) |

Inflation and gas prices top the list of issues confronted by American families, according to a new public opinion poll, which also shows that the percentage of Americans who say they are struggling financially has increased by double digits since last year. A Monmouth University poll found that the majority of those surveyed believe that President Joe Biden's policies are hurting the middle class and that federal government initiatives are hurting them. The percentage of respondents who indicated they were having trouble managing their finances, 42%, has increased 18 points since last year and is at its highest level since Monmouth University began polling the topic five years ago. A World War II-era boat is the latest object to be revealed in the rapidly shrinking Lake Mead that is drying up due to the worst drought to hit the reservoir that straddles the Nevada and Arizona state line. While the drought has revealed a flurry of sunken boats, barrels, boxes, and even bodies, the WWII-era ship that was just discovered is by far the largest and oldest object found to date. The boat was once 185 feet below the surface of the water, but the drought is so bad that the ship is now more than halfway exposed. So, how did a WWII-era boat end up at the bottom of Lake Mead anyway? (read more) |

Twenty-two-year-old Robert "Bobby" Crimo III was apprehended on Monday after being named a person of interest in the Fourth of July parade shooting in Highland Park, Illinois. Crimo led police on an hours-long manhunt before they were able to catch him following a car chase. It is thought that Crimo fired shots into the crowd with a high-powered rifle while he was on top of a roof. A witness who saw the arrest says that Crimo surrendered to authorities right away. "It ended with him getting on his knees and getting arrested by cops. It was surreal, I didn't know what I was seeing," said delivery driver Ryan Lerman. The parade was nearly three-quarters of the way done when the violence broke out, causing panicked parade goers to run and leave behind their belongings. "Everybody is crying. We ended up making it behind a corner and we hid behind a dumpster. This man was there with his two very young children and he had put them in the dumpster for safety," said Zoe Nicole Pawelczak who grabbed her dad and started running when the chaos broke out. The NorthShore University Health System revealed they have a total of 31 patients and that at least one child is critically injured. Overall, six people were killed in the senseless attack and 24 others were seriously injured. Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker has since spoken out about the tragedy. Here's what he said and what he wants to happen now. (read more) |
