It’s finally here! AN IMMENSE WORLD is now officially published (in the US at least). I’ve been working on this since The Before Times, and I’m thrilled that it now exists outside my head and my home. If you want to get a feel for the book, the last chapter is excerpted in The Altantic (along with some truly stunning photos) and I wrote an essay about some of its themes for the New York Times. There have also been rave reviews in NPR, the Wall Street Journal, and the Guardian; and interviews in Slate, NPR Weekend Edition, Mother Jones, and more. And for UK folks, there's still time to preorder the UK edition, which comes out next Thursday. AN IMMENSE WORLD is about wonder and curiosity. It’s about the new perspectives that the senses of other animals can give us—into their lives, and into our surroundings. It’s a travelogue—a call to find the magical in the mundane, and the unfamiliar in the familiar. I hope it can be a salve for the weary among you, and a source of joy at a time when we need more of that. - E | |
