There was a lot going on over the Memorial Day weekend, so, there's one story we didn't want you to miss. Because while the headlines were prominent right after it happened, they quickly began disappearing into the media abyss as the weekend went on. Over the weekend, Nancy Pelosi's husband did some time in jail. From what I've been able to find out, about 3 hours. He was bailed out with $5,000 for his two misdemeanors. As part of their inquiry into the leak of a draft ruling that might overturn Roe v. Wade, Supreme Court authorities are expected to compel legal clerks to give over their cell phones and submit call data. According to the report, officials have narrowed in on the clerks as the most likely source of the leak, with Chief Justice John Roberts meeting with them as a group shortly after Politico published a draft majority opinion detailing the Court's decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. According to anonymous sources, the clerks will also be requested to sign affidavits linked to the leak. (read more) |

Last week, the three major indexes were able to break serious losing streaks and come out ahead. But if you take a look at S&P 500 futures this morning, it looks like that winning streak could be short-lived. 1. In pre-market trading, S&P futures were down about 0.5% and so are Dow futures. Nasdaq 100 futures were also down, just not by quite as much. 2. Yesterday, European Union leaders reached a deal to ban about 90% of Russian oil imports. That news has crude futures making noteworthy jumps in the U.S. and international markets. 3. In what could be great news for a host of supply chain issues spanning the globe, Shanghai is set to ease and/or lift pandemic lockdowns that have plagued the global economy for the last two months. That magic will go into effect tomorrow, June 1st. What are the other two big stories that are moving markets this morning? (read more) |

A woman in Germany says she has found her soulmate. It just so happens that soulmate is a Boeing 737. Sarah Rodo, 23, says she is attracted to inanimate objects and refers to the plane, which she nicknamed "Dicki," as her boyfriend. Rodo even has 50 models of the plane in her bedroom, and spends time snuggling the largest model of the plane each night. She says the models keep her company when she can't be with the real Dicki.
She's so in love with the plane that she regularly flies across Europe just to be with the Boeing 737. "When I'm with my 737, I'm over the moon - I love him so incredibly much - I just feel safe with him and want to spend all my time with him," Rodo explained. (read more) |

A new two-part documentary is shedding light on sexual abuse within the Amish community. "My first perpetrator was my biological father," revealed 39-year-old Mary Byler before adding, "I was five." Byler is the lead subject of the documentary entitled Sins of the Amish where she opens up about enduring trauma by multiple male family members. "It's a predator's paradise," she says as she recounts abuse from her father and three of her siblings. Byler recalled how her brother started abusing her younger sister after her, and that her mother did nothing to try to stop it. Byler then decided to pull back the curtain on the crimes and alerted the authorities, who outfitted her with a wire in hopes of catching a confession from her brothers. So, what ultimately happened, and how did her community react to the news of the assaults? (read more) |
