 Image source: Rachel Mummey for NBC News Mara Louk was a student at Visible Music College in Memphis, Tennessee who was choked and raped by a male classmate.
After she was attacked, she went to one of the college's administrators for help, expecting them to help her file a police report and come up with a safety plan.
Instead, the administrators banded together, accused her of breaking school rules by having premarital sex, and then threatened to expel her if she didn't sign a confession and finish out the rest of the school year remotely.
But that wasn't the end of the additional abuse she encountered after her assault, and that's why she's filed a federal complaint with the U.S. Department of Education on Wednesday.

 Image source: NY Post Shoppers pushing their red carts out of a Florida Target on Wednesday night likely heard gunfire as a shooting unfolded, authorities say.
Apparently, two police officers fired their weapons just outside the store, killing one man, and leaving three people with injuries.
Two people fell as they attempted to get out of harm's way, while a third person sustained a wound to the hand.
"I'm not going to be commenting because the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is actually going to assume this investigation and we don't want to step on their toes," an official said.

That's the case for one family in Illinois that was just in the middle of a bathroom revamp. Rob and Grace Jones of Crystal Lake, Illinois were busy replacing a dated toilet paper holder when they found an old rag wadded up inside of the empty space.
But the rag wasn't empty, and when they unwrapped it, you can imagine their surprise when they found two empty hamburger wrappers and a bag of very well preserved half-eaten french fries.
They were able to date the find using clues from the wrappers themselves, and you won't believe how long the remains of one happy meal had been hiding in their walls.

 Image source: People Doctor Strange actress Zara Phythian and her husband, Victor Marke, are denying multiple accusations brought forth by a woman who says that the couple had sex with her when she was only 13 years old. Phythian, 36, and Marke, 59, are now facing a total of 14 charges of sexual activity with a child in the U.K.
The woman claims that the couple sexually abused her between the ages of 13 and 15, beginning back in 2005. "I knew it was wrong, but I just didn't know how to get out of the situation or say anything," she said
Marke currently faces four more charges from another woman who alleges that he sexually abused her from 2002 to 2003, starting when she was just 15 years old. Phythian and Mark have denied all the allegations from both of the plaintiffs.
