Biden promises punishment for Putin during State of the Union address

President Joe Biden made Russia's invasion of Ukraine a centerpiece of his State of the Union speech. He pledged to inflict further financial pain on Russia, and promised to work to lessen the impact on Americans. Blue and yellow were prominent colors at the address as lawmakers expressed sartorial solidarity with Ukraine.

Biden also brought up inflation, his pick of Ketanji Brown Jackson for the Supreme Court, and falling Covid rates. Most of those in attendance left their face coverings at home for the president's address, in accordance with the masks-optional guidance issued by the Capitol.
