Let's take a look at what the day has in store for us.
So, let's dig in, shall we?
Here's What You Need To Know... A former Baywatch actor is facing federal assault charges after allegedly beating another passenger during a Delta flight Fifty-one-year-old Patricia Cornwall of Los Angeles is facing federal assault charges after beating another passenger during a flight who had called her a "Karen" after she had compared herself to Rosa Parks. Cornwall, whose stage name is Patty Breton, once had a part on the show Baywatch and Married with Children. She is also a former NFL cheerleader.
She was arrested at the Hartsfield Jackson International Airport in Atlanta two days before Christmas, the Atlanta Police Department stated. From there, she was handed off to FBI agents. Cornwall made her first court appearance on Monday where she did not accept a plea.
The incident had started when a flight attendant had asked her to take a spare seat so she could complete beverage service and Cornwall replied "What am I, Rosa Parks?" A male passenger then told Cornwall "Sit down Karen" which resulted in the dispute. The 80-year- old male passenger was interviewed and police say his story matched a cell phone video someone had taken of the exchange. Cornwall could face one year in prison and up to a $100,000 fine.
Betty White, the star of Golden Girls, is dead at 99 years old Betty White would have turned 100 in just a couple weeks, on January 17. But the actress, of The Golden Girls fame, has died, at 99 years of age. Although her official cause of death has not yet been listed, her agent, Jeff Witjas, confirmed her passing last night. He described the icon as "one of the [most] positive people I know." He suggested she would be "thrilled to be reunited with her [late husband] Allen Ludden."
White credited her longevity to that positive outlook on life in an interview that was published just weeks ago. She also joked that her diet also contributed to her good health. She said, "I try to avoid anything green. I think it's working."
She added: "I'm so lucky to be in such good health and feel so good at this age. It's amazing."
White entered the Television Academy Hall of Fame in the 90s, and, in 2013, was acknowledged for an entertainment career spanning longer than any other woman, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. She won six Emmys, and had been nominated for 23 in total. The event that would have honored her 100th birthday will still go on as planned.
A 56-year-old man who was having a seizure was beat with a stick by a store clerk in North Carolina Fifty-six-year-old Gregory Evans stopped by the Princess Market convenience store in North Carolina last Wednesday. When he was inside, he began to have a seizure and was confronted by the store clerk, 68-year-old Sobhi Hassan. Hassan was caught on video beating Evans with a stick and telling him to get out of the store.
In the video, Evans is seen shaking and trying to steady himself on the counter as he is being hit. Police have since arrested Hassan and he has been charged with simple assault. Some members of the community are calling for the store to be shut down altogether, especially since this is not the first issue that has arisen with Hassan.
Evan's sister, Edith Cooper, has given an update on her brother, saying "He's a little slow and he still doesn't have full mobility of his body at this time…but he's okay." She continued by saying he was still undergoing tests to see if he has suffered possible long-term injuries and that this assault has had a terrible impact on her family.
