Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, branded the Democratic shift in general, and Schumer, D-N.Y., in particular, the "filibuster flip-flop" while holding up a pair of flip-flops as a prop. Several Republicans mentioned a 2017 letter sponsored by Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Chris Coons, D-Del., asking Senate leaders to keep the filibuster alive. Democrats claim that things have changed as a result of election regulations imposed by Republican states in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election. It's just more proof that liberals are willing to become hypocrites if it means gaining more power.
