Well, Good Morning!
Let's take a look at what the day has in store for us.
So, let's dig in, shall we?
Here's What You Need To Know... Old Spice and Secret deodorants are on the recall list for using a cancer-causing chemical If you use certain Old Spice or Secret deodorant sprays, Proctor & Gamble Co. is urging you to throw it out due to a cancer-causing chemical that has been detected in some of the products. The affected products were said to contain benzene, which is a known carcinogen that can cause leukemia, life-threatening blood disorders and cancer of the blood and/or bone marrow.
P&G said in a press release that the health risk for its consumers was low, and that the daily exposure levels were not expected to cause any adverse health issues. They have since issued the voluntary recall and instructed retailers based in the U.S. and Canada to remove the items in question from their shelves in an "abundance of caution."
You can find out more information about the recalled Old Spice and Secret deodorant products, including a visual guide of which products you need to be on the lookout for and a consumer guide with contact information. There is also the option to request a reimbursement for the products.
This man hid in a plane's landing gear from Guatemala to Miami... And he survived, officials say A 26-year-old man determined that the best way to travel was by plane — in the landing-gear compartment. Miraculously, the stowaway survived. The plane, which had flown out of Guatemala, landed at Miami International Airport around 10 a.m. on Saturday, officials with Customs and Border Protection said. They said he had been attempting "to evade detection" when he hid on the plane.
Law enforcement officials approached the American Airlines plane when they heard about the "security issue." The man, whose identity has not yet been shared, was taken to a local hospital. The flight lasted approximately three hours. The man's survival is miraculous according to CBP officials. People who attempt such feats often don't survive, and they face "extreme risks."
Should we be concerned about the new emerging coronavirus variant, omicron? This week has brought new concerns as a new strain of the coronavirus was first detected in South Africa. Omicron, previously known as B.1.1.529, has since been identified in several European countries, Australia, Israel and Hong Kong.
Nations around the world are now racing to impose travel restrictions to try and contain the outbreaks. This reaction comes on the heels of information that omicron could be 500 times more transmissible than the Delta variant. Omicron is thought to have 32 mutations in the spike protein, which causes concern that it could easily be able to evade vaccines or be more lethal.
The fallout continued as stocks fell drastically on Friday in reaction to the news of the spreading variant. The S&P 500 index dropped 106.84 points, making it the worst day for Wall Street's benchmark index since February.
Dr. Angelique Coetzee, a private practitioner and chair of South African Medical Association, has said that so far most of the infected patients she has been seeing have exhibited mild symptoms such as headaches, body pains and extreme fatigue for several days. She also stated that she's noticed most of the patients tend to be that of a younger age of 40 and below, and that nearly half of those that she has treated have not been vaccinated.
