The House and Senate affirmed President-elect Joe Biden's victory, ultimately rejecting a last-ditch effort by President Donald Trump and his supporters to overturn the results.
The joint session to count electoral votes was delayed hours by rioters at the Capitol, incited by Trump's monthslong push to overturn the election.
But lawmakers completed the constitutionally required process that marks the final step in certifying the transition of power before Biden's inauguration on Jan. 20.
